October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month — the perfect reminder to answer the questions women ask us most: when to get a mammogram, what a hormone consult actually covers, which labs matter, and how concierge medicine makes all of it easier.
At MODO Concierge Medical Wellness in Wailea, women’s health doesn’t live in one appointment a year. It’s screenings on schedule, labs that get reviewed instead of filed, and a medical team you can text. This guide covers what to stay on top of — and how we help.
When should I get a mammogram?
Most major guidelines now recommend that women at average risk begin screening mammograms at age 40, repeating every one to two years depending on your risk factors and your provider’s advice. Women with a family history of breast cancer, certain genetic factors, or dense breast tissue may need to start earlier or screen more often — which is exactly the conversation to have with your provider rather than a search bar.
If you’re due (or almost due), MODO can order your imaging for you. The imaging cost is out of pocket or through your insurance, but the ordering, coordination, and follow-up are handled by our team — one less thing to chase down. Early detection remains the single most powerful tool against breast cancer: when caught in its earliest, localized stage, five-year survival rates exceed 99%.
What is a hormone consultation?
A hormone consult is a sit-down with our medical team to review your symptoms, order targeted lab work, and build a plan — whether that’s perimenopause support, thyroid evaluation, or hormone optimization. Hormones shift meaningfully through a woman’s 30s, 40s, and 50s, and the symptoms are easy to dismiss one at a time: disrupted sleep, stubborn weight changes, low energy, mood swings, brain fog, irregular cycles.
Tested together — estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, thyroid, cortisol, and metabolic markers — those symptoms often tell one coherent story. From there, options may include lifestyle and nutrition changes, hormone replacement where clinically appropriate, peptide therapy, and follow-up testing to confirm what’s working.
What health screenings should women get every year?
An annual physical with a comprehensive blood panel is the foundation — for MODO Concierge members, it’s included with membership, with labs, EKG, and specialist referrals built in. Beyond the mammogram conversation, the yearly rhythm we recommend for most women includes:
- Comprehensive lab work — thyroid, iron and ferritin, vitamin D, B12, metabolic and lipid panels
- Blood pressure, heart and metabolic review — heart disease is still the leading cause of death among women
- Skin checks — year-round sun is part of Maui life; so should skin surveillance be
- Cervical cancer screening on the schedule your provider recommends
- Bone and body composition — our medical-grade SECA scan (complimentary for members) tracks muscle mass, body fat, and visceral fat, a meaningful baseline through hormonal transitions
Can peptides and wellness therapies support women’s health?
Physician-guided peptide therapy can support several goals women commonly bring to us — recovery, sleep, skin, and healthy aging — and some peptides, like GHK-Cu for skin and tissue renewal, are particular favorites. Alongside peptides, our wellness menu includes IV therapy (including our collagen-supporting Beauty Enhancer drip), medically supervised GLP-1 weight loss programs, and advanced microneedling with exosome therapy for skin rejuvenation.
The common thread: everything is physician-guided, dosed to your labs and goals, and monitored — not guessed at.
October special: In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our Choose Your Glow microneedling packages are 15% off all month — all three tiers, through October 31.
Why choose concierge medicine for women’s health?
Because the hardest part of women’s health isn’t the medicine — it’s the logistics, and concierge care removes them. As a MODO member, you get same-day appointments, unlimited clinic and telemedicine visits, direct access to your medical team by call or text, imaging and specialist coordination, and 15% off MODO services. For the woman managing everyone else’s healthcare — kids, parents, partners — membership is how your own care stops falling to the bottom of the list.
