Dr. Reza Danesh—known to many as “Dr. Rez”—is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician whose career has been defined by a passion for acute care, innovation in concierge medicine, and service to underserved communities.
Dr. Rez began his academic journey at UCLA, majoring in Marine Biology before a semester at the University of Hawai‘i inspired a pivot to medicine. His dedication to acute care was shaped early, after a post–high school medivac rescue in Mexico motivated him to become an EMT. He went on to earn his medical degree from UC Davis, followed by an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Washington’s Harborview Medical Center. He later completed his Emergency Medicine residency at UCLA, training in one of the nation’s most rigorous programs.
As an attending physician, Dr. Rez practiced at the world-renowned Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles before relocating to Maui. With over 20 years of ER experience, he founded MODO Mobile Doctor (MODO MD) to redefine how healthcare is delivered. What began with one branded car and a single nurse has grown into a multi-location, multi-vehicle practice offering urgent care, house calls, and longevity wellness services.
During the pandemic, Dr. Rez partnered with the Four Seasons Resort Maui, serving as its in-house physician. He pioneered innovative IV vitamin therapies to support patients during the COVID-19 crisis and further refined MODO MD’s concierge model—blending urgent, functional, and rejuvenative medicine into a seamless patient experience.
His expertise extends beyond emergency and concierge care. Dr. Rez has extensive experience in addiction medicine, serving as Medical Director for several rehabilitation facilities, and is board-eligible with the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM).
In 2022, he founded MODO for the People, a nonprofit dedicated to providing free healthcare for those in need, including elderly patients with limited access and survivors of the Lahaina fires. Through programs like MODO Mondays, mobile units deliver street medicine and outreach to Maui’s most vulnerable and homeless populations (www.modoforthepeople.org).
Today, MODO MD operates across multiple locations with a skilled team and fully equipped vehicles, delivering care that blends emergency expertise with the personalized touch of concierge medicine. The practice extends beyond urgent needs—focusing on longevity, anti-aging, and wellness to help patients not only recover, but thrive.
Dr. Rez’s work has also reached a wider audience: he has been featured on the Emmy Award–winning HBO series The White Lotus and appeared on NPR, CNN, ABC, and NBC during coverage of the Maui fires, highlighting his unique role as Maui’s go-to concierge physician.
